           SENSOR PROGRAMMING -STEP2

DEFINITIONS
The output behavior can be programmed in the Hysteresis or Window comparator modes.  The user must determine which output mode is more suitable for the application and system logic.  The sensor output is a programmable switch point within the pressure range of the sensor.  The responses are NPN or PNP open collector transistor 125mA, 30 VDC.

OUTPUT MODE
1. Hysteresis mode provides one output signal at a programmed switch point with an adjustable hysteresis range to maintain the output below the switch point. The hysteresis mode output does not provide an "Upper Limit" feature and is typically used for pressure confirmation.

2. Window comparator mode provides a lower limit output and upper limit output at programmed switch points. The user creates an "operating window" with the window comparator mode by  programming the lower and upper limts of the sensor output.  Use the window comparator mode if the application requires an output signal , either "on" or "off" between two critical  pressure points.  See the graphs below for illustration.

Hysteresis Mode
graph:  This output mode programs the sensor to provide an output signal  "NPN or PNP" at  switch points " H-1" (output 1) and "H-2" (output 2) on the above graph  (left).  The switch points  are independent and adjustable by touch panel on the sensor.  The Hysteresis is a value "h-1" or  "h-2"  to control  the output signal  below the switch point "H-1/H-2" of the output.  This is adjustable on the sensor and  mathematically defined as:

                                                                  (switch point)               "H-1"/"H-2"

                                                                      MINUS

                                                               (Hysteresis range)           "h-1"/"h-2"

                                                                                          HYSTERESIS SWITCH POINT

Window Comparator Mode Graph:  This output mode programs the sensor to provide an output signal "NPN or PNP" between switch  points "A" and "B" on the above graph (right).  The switch points "A-1/A-2" (low point) and "B-1/B-2" (high point) are independent and adjustable on the sensor.   The window comparator mode is sometimes referred to as a "High/Low" setting or a "Failure prediction mode".  The reference depends on the application and pressure ranges.

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE

To initiate this programming press the "MODE KEY" 2 times and "OU1" and "HYS" will alternate on the display.  Pressing the "MODE KEY" will enter the information and forward the procedure to the setting.  Continue until the word "END" appears.

OUTPUT 1 MODE

The factory setting for output 1 is the HYSTERESIS mode.  To change the factory setting , press the "Mode" key 2 times (the number "2" will appear on the display) and wait 3 seconds.  "OU1" and "HYS" (hysteresis mode) will alternate on the display.  Press the "Arrow Up" key to change the output mode from "HYS" to "CNP" (Window Comparator Mode).  "OU1" and "CNP" will then alternate on the display.  After selecting the desired output mode, press the "Mode" key one time to enter and store this information.  The word "END" will appear signifying completion of this programming sequence.

OUTPUT 2 MODE

The factory setting for output 2 is the HYSTERESIS mode.  To change the factory setting, press the "Mode" key 4 times (the number "4" will appear on the display) and wait 3 seconds.  Follow  the same procedure  for OUTPUT 1 above.  Press the "Mode" key one time to enter and store this information.  The word "End" will appear signifying completion of this programming sequence.
