SENSOR PROGRAMMING - STEP 4

Optional programming features are available to adjust the sensor and display performance. Review the information below for your application.

Lockout

A lockout feature is available  to prevent changes to the programming of the sensor.  To activate, press the "Mode" and Arrow Down" keys simultaneously.  The letters "LOC" appear blinking on the display indicating the sensor programming features are now locked preventing any unwanted changes.  To unlock the programming features, repeat the above procedure.

Zero Reset

This feature is a manual calibration to reset your beginning value to zero.  Press the "Mode" key and hold for 3 seconds to reset the sensor.

Peak Value and Bottom Value

To periodically check the high value of the system, press the "Arrow Up" key one time.  "PE" momentarily appears on the display followed by the high value of the system blinking.  This feature automatically stops after 3 seconds.  To check the low value of the system, repeat this procedure by pressing the "Arrow Down" key and "bo" will appear on the display.

Display Refresh Setting/Output Response Time Interval

This feature updates the value on the display in increments of 0.1 seconds beginning with 0.1 to 1 second (factory setting is 0.3 sec.).  This feature can be useful in cases where vacuum leakage of porous products makes it difficult to read the display.  To change the display refresh time, press the "Mode" key 6 times (the number 6 will appear on the display) and wait 3 seconds.  "dsp" and "0.3" will alternate on the display.  Press the "Arrow Up" or "Arrow Down" keys to change the display refresh time.  Press the "Mode" key to enter and store this value.

The programming sequence defaults to output response time ("AUE and "1") which will alternate on the display.  The sensor response time 2.5 milliseconds which corresponds to the factory output setting of "AUE" and "1". This feature can be used to stabilize inconsistent outputs resulting in variances in work piece porosity or correspond with time of the overall system response if necessary.  The options are as follows:

Display Number
1
16
64
512

Response Time
2.5 milliseconds
40 milliseconds
160 milliseconds
1280 milliseconds
The display number is a multiplier of the response time.  To change the response time, press the "Arrow Up" or "Arrow Down" keys.  Press the "Mode" key to enter and store this value.  The word "End" will appear signifying the completion of this programming feature.

Display Peak Value, Bottom Value, or their Difference

Activating any of these features will display the Peak Value Only, Bottom Value Only, or the overall Difference between the Peak and Bottom Value Only.  This feature facilitates a "quick" check of the system performance.  The default factory setting of this feature if "Off".  To begin this programming, press the "Mode" key 7 times (the number "7" will appear on the display) and wait 3 seconds.  "Pb" and "Off" will alternate on the display.  To activate this feature press the "Arrow Up" or "Arrow Down" key.  "Pb" and "On" will alternate on the display.  Press the "Mode" key to enter and store this information.  If this feature is not activated, the word "End" will appear signifying the completion of the programming sequence.

If activated, the programming sequence defaults to a "sampling time" function of this feature.  The sampling time is the frequency the peak value, bottom value, or difference between peak and bottom value is displayed.  This is the interval the actual pressure is sampled.  "Pbt" and "10" will alternate on the display.  The sample time range is from 2 seconds to 99 seconds.  Press the "Arrow Up" or "Arrow Down" keys to record sample frequency.  Press the "Mode" key to enter and store this value.  The programming sequence defaults to the pressure range to be displayed.  :Pbd" and "PE" will alternate on the display.  Select the pressure to be displayed; PE (peak value), bo (bottom value), or du (difference between peak and bottom values) by pressing the "Arrow Up" or "Arrow Down" keys.  Press the "Mode" key to enter and store this information.  The word "End" will appear signifying the completion of the programming sequence.

Automatic Teach Mode

Automatic teach mode function sets OUTPUT 1 in the hysteresis mode and OUTPUT 2 in the Window Comparator mode automatically. The switch point H-1 is 60% of the maximum vacuum level displayed during the setup operation of the system. To begin the programming sequence, press the "Mode" 5 times. The number "5" appears on the display. After 3 seconds, "AUT" will blink on the display. Begin and cycle the vacuum system allowing the vacuum to reach the maximum level. It is important to maintain this level during the setup. The switch point H-1 will be automatically set to 60% of the maximum vacuum level precluding the need to manually set switch point "H-1". The hysteresis range is automatically 5% of the switch point recorded by the sensor. While continuing the vacuum cycle, press the "Mode" key to enter and store this information. The programming sequence defaults to establishing the bottom value of the vacuum cycle during the blow-off or vacuum release cycle. Typically this value is zero, but any other value will be subtracted from the maximum vacuum level to determine H-1.

Hysteresis Mode: H-1 = (peak vacuum level – bottom vacuum level) x 60%, h-1 = (H-1) x 5%

Window Comparator Mode: A-2 = (H-1) x 80%, B-2 = Peak Value x 80%

After the blow-off or vacuum release cycle is complete, press the "Mode" key to enter and store this information. The sensor will automatically calculate "H-1/h-1" and "A-2/B-2" based on the system performance.

The programming sequence defaults to the "auto-surveillance" feature to monitor the peak vacuum level of the system. "AL" and "off" will alternate on the display. This option provides signal "OUTPUT 2" along with "OUT 2" LED indication if the peak vacuum level of the system is not reached over a consecutive number of surveillance’s programmed. To activate or deactivate this function, press the "Mode" key one time. To exit this function, press the "Mode" key again and the word "end" appears completing the programming sequence. If the "auto-surveillance" function is activated, "ALn" and "1" will alternate on the display. Press the "Arrow Up" key to select the number of consecutive peak values to be monitored before providing an output alarm (1-100 times). Press the "Mode" key to enter and save this information. The word "end" will appear signaling the end of the programming sequence.

Special Display Features

The special display features are a series of display options that visually differentiate the display when the output signals are "ON". Press the "mode" key 8 times (the number "8" will appear on the display) and wait for 3 seconds. "dSF" and "off" will alternate on the display. To access the special display features, press the "Arrow Up" or "Arrow Down" keys until "dSF" and "ON" alternate on the display. Press the "Mode" key to proceed to the different options. "FNC" and "Ib" will alternate on the display. Display types and descriptions are shown below.

1b: This display feature blinks intermittently when OUTPUT 1 signal is "ON" and is normal when OUTPUT 1 is "OFF".
1d: This display shows a special screen when the OUTPUT 1 signal is "OFF". When the OUTPUT 1 signal is "ON" the pressure value is continuously displayed.

2b: This display feature blinks intermittently when OUTPUT 2 signal is "ON" and is normal when OUTPUT 2 signal is "OFF".
2d: This display shows a special screen when the OUTPUT 2 signal is "OFF". When the OUTPUT 2 signal is "ON" the pressure value is continuously displayed.

Off: Energy saving feature can be activated to reduce current consumption.
AL: Display confirmation option for digital input sensors only. Digital input option resets the display value to zero for calibration purposes. "AL" will be displayed after each input signal is received for confirmation.
Press the "Arrow Up" or "Arrow Down" keys to scroll through the special display features. Press the "Mode" key to activate and store the desired display. This completes the programming sequence.
